Background:
These programs include:
- The 211 Information and Referral Hotline is a 3-digit phone number serving as a first point of contact to “Get Help or to Give Help” within the community. It serves an average of 2,000 callers a month in 14 counties in Alabama.
- Christmas Clearinghouse coordinates and matches those in the River Region who need holiday assistance with generous individuals in the community who provide toys and gifts for families in need.
- The Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) connects organizations that provide services such as shelter stays, entry and exit into shelters and placement into permanent or temporary housing.
- The Volunteer Management program connects volunteers during everyday times and during disasters with opportunities to serve their community. HandsOn River Region places over 8,000 volunteers in community projects annually.

The Christmas Clearinghouse program provided $222,729 of assistance to 3,437 children in need during the 2022 holiday season.
